The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

CASSELLS, JOHN. Corporal. No 3925. 53rd Company Machine Gun Corps. Formerly No 17319 Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Royston, Yorkshire. Son of Mr and Mrs Cassells of Golcar Brow, Meltham. Reported missing, presumed killed, 21.10.1916, aged 19 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
