The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

DURHAM, JOHN ALFRED. Private. No 40811. 23rd Battalion (Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers. Born Cliffe, near Selby, 11.8.1891. Son of Frank and Sarah Durham, 62 Meltham Road, Lockwood. Educated Mount Pleasant Board School, Lockwood. Employed by Mr W.H. Charlesworth, greengrocer and fruiterer, of Lockwood. Single. Enlisted 29.4.1916. Killed in action at Arras, 26.2.1917, aged 25 years. Buried FAUBOURG D'AMIENSCEMETERY, ARRAS. Grave location:- Plot 2, Row D, Grave 31.
