Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WORTLEY, JOE. Gunner. No 77500. 262nd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Second son of Mr and Mrs Walter Wortley, of Highburton, near Huddersfield. Employed by Messrs B. H. Moxon and Sons Limited. Connected with the Kirkburton P.S.A. Brotherhood. Was married in October, 1916. Wounded in the thigh by the bursting of a shell. Died of wounds at No 26 General Hospital on 9.9.1917, aged 25 years. Buried ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 25, Row P, Grave 8A.
