The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SHAW, JOE. Private. No 41056. 19th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers (2nd Tyneside Pioneers). Born Honley. Son of Mrs B. Shaw, Burhouse Terrace, Honley. Employed at Rock Mills, Brockholes. Enlisted in 1916. Killed in action, 28.3.1918, aged 23 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated POZIERES MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
