Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

GARSIDE, JOE. Private. No 39664. 8th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Born Longwood. Son of Mrs Tom Garside, 12 Ray Gate, Mount, Longwood. Husband of Sarah Jane Garside of 19 High Street, Scapegoat Hill, Golcar. Employed by Messrs Peckett and Sons, Portland Mills, Lindley as a weaver. Was a member of the Golcar Cricket and Bowling Club. Attended the Scapegoat Hill Baptist Chapel and was a member of the Liberal Club. Killed in action, 7.6.1917, aged 34 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated MENIN GATE MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
