James Williams (c.1897-1917)

An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.

Rifleman, 7th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. Regimental No 6/997. Born in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Died of Wounds 27 August 1917 in France aged 19 years. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Williams, Leeds Road, Bradley. Employed at Woodhouse Carr Mill. Enlisted with his brother Harry.
Also known as Jack Williams. Commemorated on Emley War Memorial.
