CARTWRIGHT, JAMES WILLIAM. Private. No 40761. 2/5th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment. Son of Walker and Grace Cartwright of Cliffe, Holmfirth. Husband of Annie Cartwright, Sude Hill, New Mill. Employed by Messrs Beaumonts, dyers, of Honley. Killed in action, 23.9.1917, aged 33 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated on the TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.

Brother of Private BENJAMIN CARTWRIGHT, killed in action, 15.11.1916.
