- SPENCER, JAMES. Lance Corporal. No 23/340. 3rd Battalion Durham Light Infantry. Born Little Carr Green, Dalton, Huddersfield, 31.8.1889. Son of Mr and Mrs William Spencer, 6 Hampshire Street, High Royd, Moldgreen. Employed as a tuner by Messrs Godfrey Sykes and Sons of Moldgreen. Played cricket for the Dalton Cricket Club. Single. Enlisted 9.6.1916. Died of pneumonia on 11.12.1916 at Mill Dam Hospital, South Shields, aged 27. Buried ALMONDBURY CEMETERY. Grave location:- 2, 'C', 74.
