Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SALLIS, JAMES. Private. No 17/850. 17th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment (2nd Leeds Pals). Born London. Son of Bessie Sallis, and the late James Sallis, 16 Marsh, Honley. Employed by Messrs Eastwood Brothers, Honley. Killed whilst acting as a stretcher-bearer attending to wounded men near Carnoy, 25.8.1916, during the Battle of the Somme, aged 19 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
