Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BLAKELEY, JAMES EDWARD, MM. Sergeant. No 305907. 2/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Lived 2 Lane, Lingards, Slaithwaite. Enlisted at the outbreak of the war. Had served four and a half years with the Colours. Awarded the MM, 16.7.1918. Came home from France with the Cadre of the 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment a week before he died of pneumonia, on 14.5.1919, aged 22 years. Buried with full military honours in SLAITHWAITE CEMETERY. Grave location:- B, 3, 111.
ROH:- St. James' Church, Slaithwaite; Slaithwaite War Memorial; Huddersfield Drill Hall.
