The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

PENNINGTON, JAMES DENNIS. Sergeant. No 29959. 5/6th Battalion The Royal Scots. Born Bollington, Cheshire. Son of George and Sarah Ann Pennington, Bethany Farm, Blackmoorfoot, Linthwaite. Lived Lewisham Road, Slaithwaite. Employed by the Slaithwaite Spinning Company Limited. Was a teacher at Slaithwaite Providence Baptist Sunday School. Embarked for France in September, 1918. Killed in action, 2.10.1918, aged 26 years. Buried SEQUEHART BRITISH CEMETERY No 2. Grave location:- Row A, Grave 45.
