Extracts

The History of Lockwood and North Crosland (1980) by Brian Clarke:

Founded as a beerhouse in 1879, the owner, Joseph Kaye, sold out to Seth Senior’s in 1893. Originally in an old cottage (c.1770) a new house was built nearby in 1927, upon the site of an ancient building known as Barton Tower. This house is still open and under the Bass sign.
