A SITE ON "THE BACKBONE OF ENGLAND" FOR MILITARY AIRMEN: MOORLAND, BETWEEN MARSDEN AND MELTHAM, IN YORKSHIRE, BOUGHT BY THE WAR OFFICE.
The land on the Pennine Chain bought by the War Office for aviation and a wireless-telegraph station is some miles in extent and is about 1600 feet above sea-level. An aeroplane making only a limited detour would have most of the principal towns of Yorkshire and Lancashire under observation.
