Humphrey Hirst (c.1890-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

HIRST, HUMPHREY. Private. No 43084. 200th Area Employment Company, Labour Corps. Formerly 9th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Born Linthwaite, Huddersfield. Son of Seth Hirst, 105 Albert Terrace, Linthwaite. Employed as a weaver at Platt Mill, Slaithwaite. Was a member of Linthwaite Hall Cricket Club and attended Slaithwaite Church. Enlisted May 1916. Died of a cerebral haemorrhage at Rouen Base Hospital, 7.8.1918, aged 28 years. Buried St. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION. Grave location:- Block Q, Plot 3, Row M, Grave 2.
