The Chronicle had previously stated that Mrs. Dennis had been committed to an asylum and had died there.

THE LINTHWAITE MURDER.

THE MOTHER OF CATHERINE DENNIS.

Mr. George Ramsden, of Linthwaite, uncle to the late Catherine Dennis (for whose murder James Stockwell was recently hanged at Armley), has received a letter from her father, saying that the statements which have appeared in the newspapers that her mother had been removed to a lunatic asylum and had died there are not true. Mrs. Dennis has never been taken to an asylum, and though she has been greatly cast down with grief she is alive and in good health.
