Carlile Institute, Meltham.
From "Paris to Moscow" was the subject of a lecture by Mr. Eli Sowerbutts, F.R.G.S., secretary to the Manchester Geographical Society, at the above-named institute, on Monday evening. There was a large and appreciative audience, who listened with much attention to the graphic description of the various sights and points of interest en route. A hearty vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Haigh, and seconded by Mr. T.H. Preston, and unanimously accorded to Mr. Sowerbutts for his admirable and instructive lecture.
