Lecture at Meltham.

A lecture was given on Monday evening at the Carlile Institute by Mr. E.W. Mellor, J.P., of Lytham. The subject of the lecture was "North Portugal," from Oporto to Lisbon, illustrated with views taken by him on an excursion made last summer. Mr. E.H. Carlile presided. As the various photos were placed on the screen by a lantern manipulated by Mr. W.C. Armitage, the lecturer gave a full and descriptive account of each scene, making the lecture one of a very interesting character, and one which was highly appreciated. The large room was well filled. At the close of the lecture a vote of thanks to Mr. Mellor and Mr. Armitage was accorded on the motion of Mr. Enoch Mortimer, seconded by Mr. Joel Pogson. The lecturer briefly replied.
