Lecture on Africa.

There was a fairly good attendance at the Carlile Institute, Meltham, on Monday evening, when a lecture was given by Mr. E. Sowerbutts. F.R.G.S., on "British East Africa," illustrated by lime-light views, the lantern being lent by Mr. W.C. Armitage. The Rev. J. Johnson, of Meltham Mills, presided, and at the conclusion moved a vote of thanks to the lecturer for a most agreeable and instructive evening's entertainment, and this was seconded by Mr. E. Mortimer and carried with great applause.
