HATS! HATS?!

THE HAT TRADE IN HUDDERSFIELD. 7 \ JE believe Huddersfield to stand unrivalled in the exhibition of acts of folly in this ieular department of trade.

The season kas azain disclosed the extravagancies of some who fondl y dream theraby to reap to themselves extraordinary advantages. Some are manu'acturing by steam alone, and for aught we can tell, 4 selling by steam too ; and others are.so far displaying the weakness of their intellect as to assure the publie how much: they thank them for the very marked distinction awarded them above all, and that they are really planting 'their feet firmly upon the unfortunate necks Of others in the trade, by so far outstripping them in cheapness as to leave them at such a hopeless distance as'chnnot be measured. > j

J. E. EAGLETON, HATTER, 3 20, CROSS-CHURCH-STREET, HUDDERSFIELD, b (Successor to Messrs. Denton & Bay"pox,) = t B Has, however, pleasure in thanking the gentry, merchants, and working classes generally, for the support ke h@s received the last three years in the above establishment. He has not rightly estimated the character of Yorkshiremen f they are not fully aware that those are able to sell the test and cheapest goods who sustain their credit in the marketf'and give ] evidence at the same time by their general conduc? that they possess sound capability of judgment when, gnd where, 4 end how they buy. a i J. E. takes this opportunity to announce that he is now almost daily receiving parcels of the extensi he has made of HATS, manufactured expressly for him by the most eminent makers. For beauty, style, he courts comparisen and invites competition with any house in the kingdom. His list of prices are — 3s. 6d, 4s. 6d., 5s. 6d, 6s. Gd, 7s, 7s. 6d., 83, 8s. 6d., 9a, 9s. Gd, 103 lis. and 12sF Also the EXTRA SUPER QUALITIES in which he does a large trade (which are not usually kept by hatters,) at13s., 14s., 15s., and 163. In FANCIES he knows well he stands unrivalled in variety and beauty. SO Observe the Address, J. E. EAGLETON, Hatter, No. 20, Caoss-church-street, near the Corner of K 2-Street,

Mosastic Remains. — the Fine Arts. — mr. John Burkill, son of Isaac Burkill, Esq., of Wake tleman of whose lithographed views of Bolton Abbey and the neighbourhood, we spoke so highly some months ago, has in progress another work in the same style, illustrating the Abbeys and Monasteries of Great Britain and Ireland. This new publication, of the first part of which we have scen a, very beautiful copy. is likely to extend the artist's fan:e, Me. Burkill was lately admitted to an audience of his Royal Highness Prince Rina, at Buckiagham Pelace, to submit specimens of his forthcoming work, and received a flattering intimation from the Prince, of: his wish that tlic work should be dedieated to us Royal Highness. Her Majesty will also'become its patroness. — Lceds Mercury,

Byrxiit's Exclis! Monastentes. — calling at Mr. Stanfjeld's shop yesterilay, we were shown a specimen pari of Mr. Burkill's " Abbeysand Monasteries of Great Britain and Irefand." It "contains, in addition to the letter Tree, two large views of Kirkstall Abbey (East and West) in tinted lithograph, executed in the first style of the art, and indeed so exquisitely finished that they might almost be mistaken for line engravings. The work promises to be a wagnificen: one. Bradford Observer.

LITHOGRAPHED ILLUSTRATIONS OF Monastic. Rewains. — we had on a recont occasion te speak in hich terms cf lithographed views of Bolton Abbey, by Mr. Jehn Burkill, son of Isaac Burkill, Esq., of this borough. We have been shown a beautiful copy of the first part of aarother work in the same style, by this gentlemin, 'illustrating the Abbevs and Monasteries of Great Britain and Jretand. Views of Kirkstall Abbey are those we now allude to ; which «ec thiz!: calculated to enhance the artist's alroady high reputation. — Wakeneld Journ. "

Burkill's Prcturesque Vitws! — we have much pleasure in calling attention to a series of Views of Bolton Abt y by Mr. Burkhill. (In place of any detailed criticism of our own butbere merits as drawings, and on the style in which the lithograpker has. tendered his subjects, it may Be sufficient to say that the. London reviewers are r.carly ura timers in commendation of the werk, and that while it camot fail to please the eye of theless skilled admirer of the picts resque; the connoisseur will sec many additional reasons for his approval. In the taste. displayed in the selection of his points of vigw, and in the pleasing variety of scene presented in the seven drawine s, we think Mr. Burkill may challenge comparison with most of the publications of this class, .with which the taste. pf.the presont da y is so abundantly supped. We are gind to-find that the great success that has attended it has called for a second editiou. to which the author has appended copious historical and descriptive letterpress, with several original sonmets. from the pen of the Rev. R. W, Hamilton, D.D.; of Leeds, .Mr. Burkill is, we hear commencing a second work wider hivh patronage, and of a muie gampreheasive character than the one now under notice — to illustrate the remains of the various Abbeys and Munastonite with wien our ban is studded $ Ld tstoviegl po ecripte department of this work is ta be from the pen of a ergyman well-known 1n tis neigibourhood.
