The Linthwaite Murder.
Petition for Reprieve.
It is reported that a petition is being prepared for signature to be sent to the Home Secretary, requesting him to reprieve James Stockwell, committed for the murder of Catherine Dennis, at Linthwaite. It is also stated that Mrs. Mary Mellor, one of the sisters of Stockwell, has become affected in her mind, and has had to be removed to the asylum.
