- HIRST, HUBERT IRVIN. Private. No 5360. 2/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Golcar. Son of Mitchell Hirst, 13 West End Road, Golcar. Employed by Messrs Pearson Brothers at Victoria Mills, Golcar. Was a member of Golcar Conservative Club. Enlisted 27.3.1916. Embarked for France at the beginning of January 1917. Killed in action, 14.2.1917, aged 21 years. Buried AUCHONVILLERS MILITARY CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 2, Row K, Grave 7.
