Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

GREENSMITH, HUBERT HENRY (BERTIE). Private. No 24172. 10th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Son of William and Francis Greensmith, Ford Gate, Hinchliffe Mill. Educated Dobb School. Employed as a shop assistant at the Hinchliffe Mill Cooperative Society and at Milnsbridge Cooperative Stores. Attended Hinchliffe Wesleyan Sunday School. Enlisted firstly in the Royal Field Artillery and was later transferred into the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Embarked for France on his thirtieth birthday, 2.10.1916. Killed in action, 24.1.1917. Buried RAILWAY DUGOUTS BURIAL GROUND (TRANSPORT FARM). Grave location:- Plot 7, Row F, Grave 16.
