Honley Feast (1847)

The 1847 Honley Feast began on Sunday 26 September.

The Leeds Times (02/Oct/1847) reported the following:

Honley Feast — This feast, which commenced on Sunday last, and generally continues till the following Wednesday, is, on account of it being late in the season, and the last feast in the neighbourhood, very much frequented by visitors from the surrounding the hills. We don't remember ever to have witnessed so great a number as on the present occasion. On Monday, the village was completely filled, and, upon the whole, the feast was an exceedingly good one, and appeared to be well enjoyed both by the inhabitants and visitors.
