Herbert Senior (c.1889-1917)

An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SENIOR, HERBERT. Private. No 201244. 'C' Company, 1/5th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers. Formerly Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Son of the late William Booth. Senior and Annie Senior, 55 School Street, Moldgreen. Employed by Messrs Law Dyson and Company, waterproof cover makers, of Aspley, Huddersfield. Was a member of the Huddersfield Salvation Army band. Single. Enlisted February 1916. Went to Egypt in February, 1917. Wounded in action in the attack on Junction Station, where the Jerusalem line left the main railway to Damascus. He died of wounds in Palestine on 13.11.1917, aged 28 years. Buried RAMLEH WAR CEMETERY, PALESTINE. Grave location:- Row O, Grave 36.
