The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

GRIFFIN, HERBERT HENRY. Private. No M2/222698. 648th Motor Transport Company, Army Service Corps. Born Liverpool. Employed as a chauffeur for Colonel Beadon, of Longley Hall. Married, with two children, and lived at Longley Hall Cottage. Died from dysentery at Dar-es-Salaam, East Africa, 4.4.1918. Buried PEMBA CEMETERY, MOZAMBIQUE. Grave location:- Row A, Grave 12.
