Herbert Dennis (1891-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

DENNIS, HERBERT. Private. No 307764. 9th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Chapel Hill, Huddersfield, 1.6.1891. Son of Mrs E. Dennis, 82 Manchester Road, Huddersfield. Educated at St. Paul's School. Employed as a mill hand by Messrs Hirst and Mallinson, of Longwood. Was a well known local swimmer and had won many swimming prizes. Husband of Sarah Dennis, 21 Varley's Yard, Chapel Hill. Killed in action, 26.8.1918, aged 27 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated on the VIS-en-ARTOISMEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
