Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

ATKINSON, HERBERT. Private. No 21876. 10th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Atkinson of Hinchliffe Mill. Worked as a millhand in the finishing room of Messrs Whiteley and Green, Hinchliffe Mill. Attended Hinchliffe Mill Wesleyan School. Keen on athletics and cycling. Enlisted August 1915. Died of wounds at No 56 Casualty Clearing Station 2.11.1916, aged 21 years. Buried in GROVE TOWN CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 2, Row F, Grave 40.
