The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- THEWLIS, HENRY. Private. No 31311. 8th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. Formerly No 29137 The Yorkshire Regiment. Born Lascelles Hall, Kirkheaton, Huddersfield. Only son of Mr and Mrs Herbert Thewlis, of Lascelles Hall. Employed by Mr Ernest Priestley, boot and shoemaker, of Lepton. Enlisted March 1916. Reported missing, presumed killed, on 13.11.1916, aged 32 years. Buried SERRE ROAD CEMETERY No 1. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row C, Grave 32.
