Henry Harvatt (1893-1917)
An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.
Biography
Henry "Harry" Harvatt was born in 1893, the son of groom John Havatt and his wife Mary.
In 1901, the family was living at South Dalton, Beverley, East Yorkshire. By 1911, Henry was working as a farm labourer.
Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922
The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- HARVATT, HENRY. Sergeant. No 5953. 'A' Battery, 155th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. Born Beverley 1894. Employed as an Asylum attendant before joining the Huddersfield police on 9.1.1914. Killed in action, 4.8.1917, aged 23 years. Buried DUHALLOW A.D.S. CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row A, Grave 26.
