History

Henry Fisher & Co. were woollen manufacturers of Fall Lane Mills, Marsden. The firm also had a warehouse on Station Street, Huddersfield.

On 24 May 1881, a fire broke out in the teazing room of the Marsden mill, "caused by the fearnought shaft getting heated by friction." The workpeople tackled the fire and extinguished within an hour, although "considerable damage was done by both fire and water to the machinery, and to a large stock of wool and finished goods in the adjoining warehouse."[1]

A serious fire broke out in the weaving shed of Fall Lane Mills in August 1899, completely destroying it and causing around £3,000 worth of damage.
