Harry Clay (1897-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

CLAY, HARRY. Private. No 24516. 9th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Thongsbridge 8.4.1897. Son of Arthur and Mary Hannah Clay, 86 Kirkgate, Huddersfield. Educated at St. John's School, Hillhouse, Huddersfield. Employed as an under-percher by Messrs Middlemost Brothers, of Birkby. Enlisted 17.6.1916. Killed in action near Martinpuich, south west of Bapaume, 26.8.1918, aged 21 years. Buried ADANAC MILITARY CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 6, Row J, Grave 13.
