The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BATTYE, HARRY. Rifleman. No C/7452. 18th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. Born Deanbridge, Holmfirth. Lived 16 Bank Street, Jackson Bridge. Employed by Messrs Vickermans of Thongsbridge. Killed in action at Flers during the Battle of the Somme, on 15.9.1916, aged 19 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
