Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

MILNES, HAROLD. Private. No 36118. 1/4th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Born Blacker Road, Birkby, 9.7.1898. Son of Herbert and Sarah Ann Milnes, 61 Blacker Road, Birkby. Educated Hillhouse Church of England School and Higher Elementary School. Employed in his father's business of Messrs Milnes and Garside, sanitary and chemical plumbers, of Upperhead Row, Huddersfield. Was a playing member of the Netheroyd Hill cricket and football teams and was a member of the Netheroyd Hill Church and Sunday School. Single. Enlisted March 1917. Killed in action at Neuve Eglise, 13.4.1918, aged 19 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
