Harold Hirst (c.1881-1917)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

HIRST, HAROLD. Private. No 241784. 2/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born South Crosland, Huddersfield. Son of Edward and Hannah Hirst, 3 Manse Side, Marsden. Prior to enlistment was employed by Messrs Crowther, Bruce and Company Limited as a weaver. Was a member of the Marsden Conservative Club and attended St. Bartholomew's Church. Enlisted March 1916. Embarked for France in January, 1917. Reported missing at the Battle of Bullecourt, 3.5.1917. Has no known grave. Commemorated ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
