Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BATES, HAROLD. Private. No 8862. 2nd Battalion Manchester Regiment. Born Halifax. Son of Mr H.B. Bates, 50 May Street, Crosland Moor. Employed by Messrs W. and P. Holroyd, painters and decorators, High Street, Huddersfield. Had served three years with the Colours and had been a reservist for nine years. Called up at the outbreak of the war. Killed in action at Wulverghem, Belgium, 11.1.1915. Buried in RATION FARM (La PLUS) DOUVE ANNEXE, PLOEGSTEERT. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row A, Grave 8.
ROH:- St. Barnabas Church, Crosland Moor.
