Harland Field (1894-1918)

An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

FIELD, HARLAND. Gunner. No 141005. 'B' Battery, 97th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. Born Knottingley, near Pontefract, 3.6.1894. Son of John William and Edith Ellen Field, 14 Portland Street, Huddersfield. Educated at the Wesleyan School, Knottingley. Employed as a railway fireman by the North Eastern Railway Company. Single. At the time of enlistment, was living at 28 Alder Street, Huddersfield. Enlisted 16.5.1916. Wounded 16.4.1918 and died of his wounds on 17.4.1918, aged 23 years. Buried ETAPLES MILITARYCEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 29, Row F, Grave 2a.
