Greaves and Co.

Greaves & Co. were a photographic studio based at Arcade Chambers, 55 New Street, Huddersfield.

History

Established in Huddersfield in 1919 by photographer Willie Naylor[1] of Halifax, the firm was listed as "studio photographers" in the 1937 Directory.

The business later became Greaves (Photographers) Limited[2] who were based at 6/7 Union Bank Yard off New Street.

Notes and References

  1. Born on 4 August 1888, the son of joiner John Henry Naylor and his wife Sarah. He served his apprenticeship with Greaves of Halifax. By the time of the 1939 Directory, he was residing at 12 Woodthorpe Terrace, Huddersfield, with his wife Minnie (who died in 1954).
  2. Incorporated on 7 September 1955.
