WOOD, GILBERT HENRY. Gunner. No 29431. 'B' Battery, 168th (Huddersfield) Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Born Heap Street, off South Street, Huddersfield, 29.11.1897. Son of Timothy and Miriam Wood, 15 Newland Avenue, Birkby, Huddersfield. Assisted in father's ironmongery business in Queen Street, Huddersfield. Attended Fartown Trinity Wesleyan Church. Single. Enlisted June 1915. Killed in action at Nieuport, Belgium on 12.9.1917, aged 19 years. Buried COXYDE MILITARY CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 2, Row G, Grave 14.
