George William Sheard (c.1891-1916)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922
The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- SHEARD, GEORGE WILLIAM. Private. No 31262. 1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. Formerly No 25976 West Yorkshire Regiment. Born Rocktown, Queensland, Australia. Son of Mr and Mrs Sheard, 17 Spring Street, Marsden. Had lived in Marsden for six years. Employed as a weaver at Bank Bottom Mills, Marsden. Enlisted October 1915. Killed by shrapnel in the attack on Gueudecourt on 16.9.1916, aged 25 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
