The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- WILKINSON, GEORGE. Private. No 32423. 2/4th Battalion South Lancashire Regiment. Born Cawthorne, Barnsley, 23.7.1889. Son of Walter and Frances E. Wilkinson, 6 Adelphi Road, Marsh, Huddersfield. Educated Cawthorne Church of England School and the New Higher Board School, Milnsbridge. Employed as a motor driver/mechanic by Mr F Thomas of Honley. Single. Enlisted May 1916. Killed in action near Langemarck on 6.11.1917, aged 28 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
