George Vernon Charlesworth (1892-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

CHARLESWORTH, GEORGE VERNON. 2nd Lieutenant. 6th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Lockwood 3.3.1892. Son of John William and Elizabeth Ann Charlesworth, 2 Northfield, Lockwood. Educated at Huddersfield Higher Grade School. Employed as a clerk in the office of Messrs John Taylor Limited, Colne Road, Huddersfield. Single. Enlisted as a Private in the 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment on 12.10.1914. Embarked for France in April, 1915. Wounded three times. Killed in action, 28.9.1918, aged 26 years. Buried GRAND RAVINE CEMETERY, HAVRINCOURT. Grave location:- Row A, Grave 3.
