Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

TAYLOR, GEORGE. Guardsman. No 22655. 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. Born Marsden. Only son of Mr Joe Taylor of Nab Lane, Mirfield. Had worked in the Colne Valley for many years. At the time of enlisting was employed as a weaver by Mr J E Crowther of Marsden. Single. Enlisted February 1915. Embarked for France in November, 1915. Killed in action at the Battle of the Somme on 10.9.1916, aged 35 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
