Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SYKES, GEORGE. Private. No 61647. 206th Company, Machine Gun Corps. Formerly No 23004 Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born South Crosland, Huddersfield. Son of Joe and Sarah Ann Sykes, Moor Lane, Netherton. Husband of Mary Ellen Sykes of North End Farm, Netherton. Employed by Messrs John Brooke and Sons Limited, Armitage Bridge Mills. Killed in action at the Battle of Arras on 13.5.1917, aged 31 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
