- SYKES, GEORGE. Private. No 32603. 2nd Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. Born Clough Top, Almondbury, 12.5.1880. Son of Frank and Mary Ann Sykes, 174 Almondbury Bank, Huddersfield. Educated Moldgreen Council School. Employed as a labourer. Single. Enlisted 6.5.1916. Wounded in October 1916. Died in Edinburgh War Hospital of wounds on 11.5.1917, aged 37 years. Buried ALMONDBURY CEMETERY, HUDDERSFIELD. Grave location:- K, 'C', 243.
