The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- WALSHAW, GEORGE LIONEL. Private. No 45192. 13th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment (1st Barnsley Pals). Born Rose Village, Alverthorpe, near Wakefield, 19.1.1884. Educated Wheelwright's Grammar School, Dewsbury, and Leeds University. Employed as a cloth designer. Husband of Ada Walshaw, 23 Ladyhouse Lane, Berry Brow, Huddersfield. Reported missing, presumed killed, on 12.4.1918 at Outtersteene near Bailleul, aged 34. Has no known grave. Commemorated PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
