George Leather (1786-1870)

George Leather was a civil engineer who designed the ill-fated Bilberry Reservoir.


He was born on 5 October 1876 at Wakefield, the son of George Leather and his wife Hannah (née Beaumont), and was baptised on 31 October 1876 at All Saints, Wakefield.

He married Sarah Wignall in 1809 and the couple had 8 known children.

He died on 2 April 1870 at Knostrop New Hall, Leeds.
