George Herbert Nicholls (c.1894-1916)

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

NICHOLLS, GEORGE HERBERT. Private. No 27658. 92nd Company Machine Gun Corps. Formerly No 17904 Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Taylor Hill, Lockwood, Huddersfield. Son of Walter and Elizabeth Nicholls, 10 Stoney Lane, Taylor Hill. Educated Lockwood Church Schools. Employed as a twister-in by Messrs B. Vickerman and Sons, Taylor Hill Mills. Attended Lockwood Parish Church and was a member of the Young Men's Class. Enlisted 21.1.1916. Died of wounds, 28.6.1916, aged 21 years. Buried BERTRANCOURT MILITARY CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row D, Grave 20.
