George Herbert Fourth Yates (1885-1919)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

YATES, GEORGE HERBERT FOURTH. Lieutenant. 4th Army H.Q. Army Pay Corps. Born 229 Bradford Road North, Huddersfield, 11.9.1885. Son of William Pearson Yates and Mary Arabella Yates, 'Westholme', Tarraway Road, Preston, Paignton, South Devon. Educated Fartown Grammar School and King Edward's High School, Birmingham. Was a chartered accountant. Enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers in March, 1916. Wounded by shrapnel in December, 1916. Died of bronchial pneumonia at Boulogne on 15.2.1919, aged 33 years. Buried TERLINCTHUN BRITISH CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 13, Row D, Grave 15.
