Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WILKINSON, GEORGE HENRY. Private. No 204391. 4th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment. Born Folly Hall, Huddersfield, 10.12.1883. Son of Mr J. Wilkinson, 16 Rawthorpe Terrace, Dalton, Huddersfield. Educated Spring Grove Board School and Huddersfield Higher Grade School. Left Huddersfield in 1907 to work as an Insurance Superintendent for the London and Manchester Assurance Company, in Peterborough and Harwich. Was very well known in Peterborough musical circles. Married. His wife was the daughter of Mr Cartwright, grocer, of Moldgreen. Lived 250 Lincoln Road, Peterborough. Enlisted 7.1.1917. Killed in action near Arras on 7.7.1917. Buried ALBUERA CEMETERY, BAILLEUL-SIRE-BERTHOULT. Grave location:- Row A, Grave 18.
ROH:- Christ Church, Moldgreen; commemorated on his parents' headstone in Edgerton Cemetery, Huddersfield.
