Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SUTCLIFFE, GEORGE GUY. Private. No 268360. 2/4th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born 6 Jagger's Buildings, Bradford Road, Huddersfield, 8.12.1894. Was the adopted son of the late Mr and Mrs Sutcliffe, 75 Hebble Terrace, Bradford Road, Huddersfield. His name was George Guy but he was better known as George Guy Sutcliffe. Educated Thomas Street Board School and Huddersfield Higher Grade School. Employed as a blacksmith's striker by Messrs J. Haywood and Company Limited, Bay Hall, Huddersfield. Single. Enlisted 21.10.1916. Killed in action near Rheims on 20.7.1918, aged 23 years. Buried MARFAUX BRITISH CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row E, Grave 7.
